About Jenday Conure
Like most Conures, the Jenday Conures are also known for their sociable disposition and playful behavior. These small parrots are highly intelligent, and can often learn several words and phrases, but are not known for their talking ability. Jenday Conures often enjoy learning tricks, and should be handled frequently. Jenday Conures are also often refered to as Jendaya Conures.
Description
The Jenday Conures are very closely related to the Sun Conure, they look almost exactly the same. The only difference is that Jenday Conures have a very dark green wing and back feathers with blue tipped wings and tail feathers. The Jenday Conure is a beautiful bird with a yellow head, an orange front and green wings. It is hard to tell the difference when they are young because the Sun Conure has the same green as Jenday Conures before their first molt.
Origin of the Jenday Conures
The Jenday Conure is native to northeastern Brazil, and is usually seen around forest clearings, sometimes near coconut palms and edges of the rain forest. They are relatively common in the wild, and are one of the few species that has benefited from forest clearing.

Special Characteristics
Highly intelligent, social creatures, the other features of Jenday Conures are:
- They are colorful, cuddly and playful.
- They would want you to hold them a lot.
- They are not much of talkers. They usually speak maximum of 6 words.
- They are athletic, playful and very alert to their surroundings.
- They are not necessarily shy, and they can certainly be heard by their loud calls.
- Since Jenday Conures are active birds, they need lots of exercise.
Temperament
Jenday Conures have wonderful, loving personalities. They make excellent pets (like all Conures) as long as you can deal with some noise every now and then. Jenday Conures are known to be just as sweet as Sun Conures, but usually with a slightly cheaper price tag (since they aren't considered by many to be "as pretty" as Sun Conures).
Jenday Conure As A Pet
The Jenday Conure is a fantastic pet. They are very affectionate and will readily accept attention from anyone. They enjoy being scratched and enjoy having their feathers stroked. It is not uncommon to see this Conure initiate being petted by bending its head forward.
The need to be with their owners is strong and many will climb inside their owner's shirt. Once there, many will find a cozy spot and peak through a sleeve or the neck opening. These Conures will gladly stay tucked inside your shirt until removed.
